CAREER GUIDANCE PROGRAMME - THE FILM INDUSTRY - CLASS IX C
The Career Guidance program on the topic “The Film Industry” was presented by students of Class IXC on 31st August, 2023. The show started with greetings. Two famous dialogues from the popular Bollywood movies “Don and Sholay”, by two vloggers, introduced the Presentation. A scene depicting a film shoot was portrayed, where two old men acted out the importance of Educating the Girl child and the discrimination between a daughter and a son that often takes place in a family. The vloggers then entered a film studio where they met the people who make the film, namely, the director, producer, cinematographer, video editor, choreographer, makeup artist, set dresser, fashion designer etc. The vloggers met the various personnel involved in film making and asked them about the career opportunities and universities where they could pursue this field. When the vloggers were about to end the skit, a student from audience got up and shared information about how the school promotes film making and acting with an example of the Advertisement competition held by the Don Bosco Academy – Nerul. Subsequently, the Vote of Thanks was given by a Carol, a student of class IX C. This was followed by a video presentation on Saving Water and the course of River Brahamaputra, by a member of the Eco Club. The programme ended with the singing of the school anthem by the students and feedback being given by the Supervisor, Vivena Rodrigues and the Principal, Sangeeta Bhattacharya.

Don Bosco has created one of the best Infrastructure in the city both for learning as well as extra-curricular activities like sports, music, art and craft etc. Value Education caters to the learner’s emotional, social, ethical, and academic needs and is an integral part of holistic learning which is at the core of Don Bosco School’s Philosophy. On Thursday 22nd June 2023, the students of class IX A presented a value education program on ‘Careers in Sports’ under the guidance of their class teacher Sumitra Adhikari. The program started with a SPORTS QUIZ to set the context followed by a brief presentation on opportunities in SPORTS as a mainstream career in India. Students enacted a parent teacher meeting (PTM) through small skit to highlight the dilemma that parents face while deciding the career of their ward. Through expert counselling session, an attempt was made to motivate interested students to explore lucrative career opportunities in Sports. The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Sara from class IX followed by instructions from madam Principal and school anthem. The value of ‘Sports as main career’ was very well presented raising a thought-provoking point about the need for including Sports in school curriculum and not just a co-curricular activity. Students were appreciated for their performance by the Principal Ma’am and Supervisor. Many students in the audience said that they learnt many new things and expressed their desire to pursue a career in Sports and related fields.

The research and findings of a value education programme conducted by Class 4 A & 4 B students on the topic of “Harmony in Peril” based on their investigation into global warming. The aim of this programme was to educate students about the threats posed by global warming and inspire them to take proactive steps to mitigate its effects. This programme was held on Tuesday, 11th July 2023 at 8:00 am in the ground floor Assembly Hall of Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul. The value education programme focused on achieving the following objectives: a) Raising awareness among students about global warming and its impact on the environment. b) Encouraging students to explore the causes and consequences of global warming. c) Promoting a sense of responsibility towards the environment and fostering sustainable practices. The students undertook extensive research to gain a comprehensive understanding of global warming. They utilized various resources such as books, articles, websites, and expert interviews. The research covered topics such as greenhouse gases, the carbon footprint, deforestation, melting ice caps, and climate change. Based on their research work, they presented a musical act to address the challenges posed by global warming, the students proposed several solutions and mitigation strategies such as adopting energy-efficient practices in homes, schools, and workplaces, Reducing, reusing, and recycling waste to minimize landfill emissions. Spreading awareness about the importance of conserving water and reducing water consumption. Through their research, the students developed a deeper understanding of the causes and consequences of global warming. The awareness campaign and proposed mitigation strategies aimed to inspire positive change and encourage a sense of responsibility towards the environment. By involving young students in such programmes, we can nurture a generation that is aware, informed, and actively engaged in tackling the challenges of global warming and preserving the harmony of our planet.

The Value Education Assembly programme on the topic “Money” was held at Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul on the 4th floor assembly hall on 12th July, 2023. The topic was introduced by choral recitation on the poem, “The Dance of Currency”. The dignitaries our Principal Mrs. Sangeeta Bhattacharya and Supervisor Reena Ma’am, Teachers and the assembled students were welcomed by the anchors. The main objective of this programme was to make the students aware about the history and the inventions of Telephone. The programme began with welcoming the dignitaries, and by the skit of ancient modes and need of Communication. The contributions of Alexander Graham Bell through the Inventions of word Ahoy and hello were explained through the skit. The Inventions were showed through the videos related to the family background of Graham Bell.The programme ended with a message through the advantages and disadvantages of using Mobile phone through the videos. Vote of Thanks was given by Teacher Meena. Principal Ma’am congratulated students as well as Teachers of class VC and VD. The Value Education Programme on the topic ‘Water Crisis’ was presented by the students of Classes V A and V B on 25th July, 2023 at Don Bosco Senior Secondary School, Nerul. The teachers in charge of the programme were Tr. Charlotte and Tr. Sarita. The programme was based on an extensive research and discussion done in both the classes to create awareness about the current global issue of water crisis. The teachers trained the children under the guidance of the Headmistress. The skit shed light on the pressing issue of water crisis and measures that can be taken to deal with the issue. The students who performed focused on raising awareness among people, reusing wastewater for irrigation and industrial purposes. The process of rain water harvesting which can be used a natural solution to provide people with a sustainable water source was shown. The students also spoke about advocating for responsible water management techniques and pushing for better policies and investments in water infrastructure. Although it was a simple message, the skit reminded all of the importance of water conservation and the power of collective action in the face of a crisis. It focussed on all striving to be responsible stewards of our precious water resources for a better and sustainable future. After the skit was enacted, a video based on the topic was shown. The programme ended with the vote of thanks given by Tr. Charlotte. Principal Ma’am shared her thoughts and views about water scarcity and lastly the School Anthem was sung. Students were appreciated for their performance. Overall the programme was a great success.

The Assembly programme of class Sr. KG. ‘A’ was presented by the students, on Wednesday, 26th July 2023. The programme was organized by Tr. Sweta Supriti for Pre-Primary students of Dominic Savio Kindergarten, Nerul in the Assembly Hall on the value ‘Cleanliness’. The basic objective of the programme was to make children understand the importance of cleanliness as it holds significant importance in both individual and societal contexts. It encompasses personal hygiene, environmental cleanliness, and maintaining orderliness in one’s surroundings. This was very well conveyed through the skit and dance by kids. Principal ma’am, Supervisor ma’am and teachers felt that the value of Cleanliness was well portrayed in the programme. The programme was enjoyed and appreciated by everyone. Collaborative efforts involving educator, parents and communities are essential in ensuring the program’s success and leaving a lasting impact on young minds.

A skit on importance of trees was presented and a wonderful dance that emphasised on the parts of trees. At the end a sapling was given to the management as a token of love from the students of Sr. KG B which gave a wonderful message to each one of us on planting trees. The programme concluded with a motivational talk by our Rector Dr .Rev. Fr. Barnabe Dsouza. Tr. Anita delivered the vote of thanks expressing her gratitude to all who made the programme possible. It was a successful endeavour to inculcate among the students the value of letting the trees live.

These presentations featured interesting facts, captivating visuals, and props, making the learning experience engaging and memorable. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks, given by Tr. Monika. The head mistress, applauded the organizers and participants for their commitment to promoting scientific knowledge and environmental consciousness. The assembly concluded on a patriotic note with the entire school singing the Don Bosco Senior School anthem, emphasizing the school’s core values and unity. The students of classes VIII C & D of Don Bosco Sr. Sec School, Nerul organized a captivating assembly programme on 13th September 2023 on ‘The Ocean Marvels’ under the guidance of Tr. Yogita and Tr. Anu. The purpose of this assembly was not only to educate about the unexplored depths of the ocean but also to create awareness about the importance of preserving our oceans and marine life. The programme was both educational and entertaining, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees. The assembly commenced with a warm welcome to the dignitaries. The rally of the students, enchanting the slogans to save the oceans and its creatures along with beach clean-up drive by Eco club members emphasized the significance of the oceans in our lives and the need to protect them. The musical band performed a melodious singing on ocean-themed song- To the Depths. The Skit – Abyssal Enigma show shared an interesting fact about the unexplored depths and marine species at various destination underneath the ocean and their conservation, highlighted the breath taking beauty of the oceans and their incredible biodiversity. The presentation was not only informative but also showcased our students research and communication skills. To engage the audience, an interactive quiz was conducted based on the show, testing the students’ knowledge about oceans. The students were appreciated for active participation and learning outcomes. We were honoured to have Mr. Sahil Khambra , a scuba diver as our guest speaker. He delivered an inspiring and informative talk about his experiences studying marine life, scuba diving and the need for ocean conservation. His passion for the oceans was truly contagious. An educational video on marine conservation campaign was shown to spread the awareness to save marine life. The guest speaker was felicitated by Meet Patil. The assembly concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Angelina. The school assembly on The Ocean Marvels left a profound impact on all those who attended. Students, teachers, and parents alike gained a deeper understanding of the beauty and fragility of our oceans. The principal Mrs. Sangita Bhattacharya and Vice-principal Fr. The students of classes VIII C & D of Don Bosco Sr. Sec School, Nerul organized a captivating assembly programme on 13th September 2023 on ‘The Ocean Marvels’ under the guidance of Tr. Yogita and Tr. Anu. The purpose of this assembly was not only to educate about the unexplored depths of the ocean but also to create awareness about the importance of preserving our oceans and marine life. The programme was both educational and entertaining, leaving a lasting impression on all attendees. The assembly commenced with a warm welcome to the dignitaries. The rally of the students, enchanting the slogans to save the oceans and its creatures along with beach clean-up drive by Eco club members emphasized the significance of the oceans in our lives and the need to protect them. The musical band performed a melodious singing on ocean-themed song- To the Depths. The Skit – Abyssal Enigma show shared an interesting fact about the unexplored depths and marine species at various destination underneath the ocean and their conservation, highlighted the breath taking beauty of the oceans and their incredible biodiversity. Barnarbe Dsouza, the Principal, Ms. Sangeeta Battacharya, supervisors of the Secondary and Senior Secondary sections, Mrs. Vivena Rodrigues and Mrs. Cleona Quadros and the guest of honour, Mr. Sachin Joseph from the Fly High Aviation Academy. The programme started off with a short quiz on the logos of various airline which saw an enthusiastic response from the audience. This was followed by a skit which highlighted a few job opportunities in the aviation industry. Subsequently, a power point presentation on many other job opportunities and courses and universities offering them was presented. Industry expert, Mr. Sachin Joseph, then briefed the students about the industry giving them deep insights aboutthe industry. After the vote of thanks was proposed, the programme ended with the singing of the school anthem. Teachers and students were appreciated for their performance by the Principal, Father Rector and the Headmistress. Overall, the programme went smoothly and was a successful one.
